Types of data

The Green Bonds Database is originates from two main sources:

  • Green, Social and Sustainable (GSS) Database which contains detailed information on the green characteristics (over 120 metrics) of a large sample of green, social, sustainability, sustainability-linked and transition bonds issued by corporations, supranational entities, and governments. 

     

    Example of metrics:

    • Issuer's name

    • Sector

    • Proceed uses and geographical allocation of proceeds

    • % allocated to different activities (transportation, buildings, energy efficiency, ...)

    • Greenhouse gas emissions reduced or avoided

    • Energy usage or consumption saved or reduced

    • Clean transportation, climate change adaptation, energy efficiency measures

       

  • Financial Characteristic’s and Valuation Price Database which contains the financial characteristics and historical pricing and trading information for each bond. 

     

    Examples of valuation price variables:

    • Nominal value and issue price

    • Coupon rate, yield to maturity and accrued interests

    • Seniority and duration 

    • Opening and closing price

    • Best bid / best ask price

    • Trading volume

    • Most liquid trading place

    • Bond convertibility (flag)
